What You’ll Do

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking an Entry‑Level Contract Software Engineer based in Fremont, CA to join a vision/automation team. You’ll help design, develop, and deploy computer vision and image‑processing solutions for automation systems.

• Develop and implement computer vision and image-processing applications for automation use cases
• Build image analysis and feature‑extraction pipelines using Python or MATLAB
• Implement vision modules and production code in C++ or C#
• Apply OpenCV for filtering, enhancement, edge detection (e.g., Sobel), and segmentation
• Integrate and tune object detection/segmentation models (examples: YOLO, SAM2)
• Develop and deploy solutions on embedded platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson
• Implement adaptive lighting and image enhancement techniques to improve detection accuracy
• Work with cross‑functional teams (hardware, firmware, test) to meet performance, reliability, and integration targets
• Optimize algorithms for real‑time performance on embedded hardware and assist with field deployments

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python OR MATLAB for image analysis and prototyping
• Hands‑on experience with NVIDIA Jetson platforms or similar embedded vision hardware
• Strong programming skills in C++ OR C# for production vision software
• Practical experience with OpenCV and common computer vision algorithms (edge detection, segmentation)
• Demonstrated ability to deploy vision solutions on embedded systems and optimize for performance
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and communicate technical tradeoffs

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have

• Experience tuning or deploying YOLO, SAM2, or similar object detection/segmentation models
• Knowledge of image filtering, enhancement, and adaptive lighting strategies
• Prior work on embedded vision systems in manufacturing or automation contexts
• Familiarity with real‑time constraints, hardware acceleration, and deploy pipelines for edge devices

• Must have hands‑on experience in at least: Python/MATLAB, NVIDIA Jetson (or similar), C++/C#, OpenCV, edge detection, and object identification/detection.
