About the role

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer to design, build, and scale cloud-enabled products for the wire-harness design and manufacturing space. This role focuses on distributed/cloud-connected systems that interact with hardware at customer sites, and will work across engineering, QA, product, and applications teams to deliver reliable, multi-tenant solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to the design and architecture of a cloud-centric software + hardware product, optimizing for performance and reliability in a multi-tenant environment.
• Implement and maintain distributed systems and cloud-connected components running in AWS.
• Build services and APIs (Python, web frameworks such as FastAPI) and coordinate background/distributed tasks (Celery or similar).
• Analyze trade-offs and select architectures that maximize availability, maintainability, and scalability.
• Drive engineering best practices: code review, testing, CI/CD pipelines, documentation, and validation.
• Participate in agile processes: sprint planning, retrospectives, and team planning.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, QA, and applications engineers to capture requirements and deliver robust solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience implementing distributed systems and cloud-connected applications in AWS.
• Strong Python skills; experience with web frameworks (FastAPI or similar).
• Experience with distributed task systems (Celery or equivalent).
• Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable working across cross-functional teams.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience building high-availability systems that combine hardware and software (IoT, embedded, or edge computing).
• Familiarity with MQTT or other device messaging protocols.
• Experience deploying multi-tenant applications in AWS.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and Agile development practices.
• Experience working with international teams across multiple time zones.
• Front-end familiarity (Nuxt or similar) is a plus for full-stack collaboration.

• Position based in Framingham, MA (authoritative location).
• Hybrid: approximately 3 days in office / 2 days remote.
