About the Role

Confidential Client is seeking an early-stage, full-stack Software Engineer (Forward Deployed) to join a small engineering team in San Francisco. This role blends product engineering with periodic forward-deployed work embedded at customer sites: most time is spent building and shipping product features; about one or two weeks per month you will be deployed with customers to integrate, debug, and learn from real-world usage.

  • Employment type: FULL_TIME
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Compensation: $130,000–$170,000 per year (range provided)

What You’ll Do

  • Build prototypes through to production features across the full stack — shipping impactful product work frequently.
  • Drive product segments end-to-end: design, implement, test, and operate.
  • Collaborate closely with the founding team to convert customer needs into technical requirements and prioritization.
  • Own technical initiatives and deliver measurable outcomes that shape the roadmap.

Forward-Deployed Responsibilities (≈1–2 weeks/month)

  • Embed with enterprise customers to deploy and integrate the product in diverse environments (SaaS, on-prem, Kubernetes, custom CI, monorepos).
  • Work directly with platform, infra, and developer experience teams to diagnose and resolve integration issues.
  • Build integrations, adapters, and scripts to unblock rollouts; generalize successful field fixes back into the product.
  • Capture evidence-based feedback from the field and translate it into roadmap priorities.

Who You Are / Qualifications

  • You’ve shipped full-stack products (professional experience, open-source, or strong personal projects).
  • Comfortable working in low-structure environments and iterating in ambiguity.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to reason about complex build/CI/monorepo problems.
  • Excellent communication: you can explain technical failure modes to engineers and articulate business impact to leadership.
  • Energized by customer-facing work and willing to travel occasionally to customer sites.
  • Experience building internal engineering tools or working inside a large monorepo is a plus.

Why Join

  • High-impact role from day one, working closely with the founding team.
  • Direct customer engagement — you’ll be in the room with customers, not reading second-hand notes.
  • Opportunity to build the product and the team, and to shape long-term technical direction.

Benefits & Perks

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Unlimited vacation policy
  • Transparent company communication — regular investor & company updates shared across the team
  • Occasional travel to customer sites (expenses reimbursed)

Compensation & Location Notes

  • Base salary range: $130,000–$170,000 per year (USD). Pay is dependent on experience, skills, and location.
  • This role is based in San Francisco, CA with periodic travel to customer sites.
