What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level Software Engineer role working on retail-facing and internal systems. You will write and maintain code for well-defined tasks, participate in engineering processes, and support production systems while learning from more experienced engineers.

  • Write clean, correct code for well-scoped tasks using team patterns and best practices.
  • Use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) responsibly: verify output, identify failure modes, and never commit code you cannot explain.
  • Participate actively in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality.
  • Learn the team’s systems, tooling, and the retail business context for the services you support.
  • Join the production support rotation with mentorship: triage straightforward defects using logs, dashboards, and runbooks; escalate when needed.
  • Collaborate with teammates to deliver features and fixes on schedule while maintaining testability and reliability.
  • Ask thoughtful questions, close knowledge gaps, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or completed coding bootcamp; or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–3 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in at least one modern language (Golang, Python, C#, PHP, JavaScript, or similar).
  • Familiarity with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) and ability to verify AI-generated code for correctness and security.
  • Ability to detect common AI failure modes (hallucinated APIs, subtle logic errors, security pitfalls).
  • Solid communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of retail business workflows and a willingness to learn who uses the systems you build and why.

Ideal Team-Member Traits

  • WOWs the customer — cares about creating exceptional customer and colleague experiences.
  • Gets things done — strong work ethic and a sense of urgency.
  • Obsesses over details — committed to quality and correctness.
  • Drives continuous improvement — seeks more effective and efficient ways of working.
  • Develops the future — invests in personal growth and helps colleagues grow.
