Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Platform-focused Software Engineer to help build and operate the infrastructure that powers a fleet of robots and their cloud services. This entry-level internship role combines software development, platform automation, and production support to ensure secure, scalable, and observable robotic deployments.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with product and robotics engineers to design, build, and operate configuration and deployment systems that manage a distributed robotic fleet.
  • Implement and maintain Over-The-Air (OTA) software deployment pipelines and automation to safely update robots in the field.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure and account management for enterprise-scale AWS environments.
  • Build observability and monitoring integrations for robot-to-cloud telemetry and logs.
  • Develop identity and access management integrations (AuthN/AuthZ) for internal and external systems.
  • Create tooling for incident detection, automated reporting, and escalation to reduce manual toil.

Tech You Will Use

  • Languages: Python, Node.js, Terraform HCL, Ansible
  • Infrastructure & tooling: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
  • Fleet & robotics tools: OTA deployment systems, robotics observability tools (e.g., Foxglove, Rerun)
  • CI/CD & collaboration: GitHub Actions, Jira/Confluence, Google Workspace
  • Security & identity: Enterprise AuthN/AuthZ integrations

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and scale configuration management and platform code to support fleet operations.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments across multiple AWS accounts.
  • Design reliable OTA mechanisms for safe rollouts to robotic assets.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and visualization to improve operational visibility.
  • Support migration and management of enterprise identity and access systems.
  • Create automated incident detection and escalation tooling to shorten MTTR.
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ensure platform features meet application and fleet needs.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
  • ~2+ years of experience in production support, platform development, or DevOps practices (even in internships or co-op roles).
  • A hybrid engineer who applies software development best practices (reusable code, automated tests) to platform work.
  • Comfortable managing cloud infrastructure (AWS) and multi-account deployments.
  • Interest or experience in robotics telemetry, remote tooling, and OTA systems.
  • Security-minded: familiarity with enterprise AuthN/AuthZ concepts.
  • Strong problem solver who looks to automate manual processes and reduce operational risk.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Daily free lunch to keep the team fueled and connected
  • Flexible PTO policy
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous parental leave (6 weeks fully paid, with additional time for birthing parents)
  • 401(k) plan
  • Employee referral bonuses

Location & Eligibility

  • Location: Columbus, OH (on-site / hybrid specifics will be shared during screening)
  • Seniority: Entry level
  • Employment type: Internship
