Position summary
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer — Embedded Systems to join an engineering team in Grandview Heights, OH. This full-time role contributes to embedded and system-level software for mission-critical products. Work typically involves C and Python development on Linux and bare-metal platforms, hardware integration, and system validation.
What you’ll do
As an early-career Embedded Software Engineer you will:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software (primarily C) for Linux-based or bare-metal systems
- Write and maintain Python support tools, tests, and automation scripts
- Integrate software with hardware interfaces, sensors, and networks (TCP/IP, sockets)
- Build user interfaces or simulation tools to support test and integration activities
- Support system-level integration, verification, and validation activities
- Follow defined software development processes to produce secure, quality-controlled solutions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers, technicians, and test teams to meet schedule and technical goals
- Travel as required for projects (typically ~2–3 weeks/year)
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- 0–2 years of professional software development experience (internships/co-ops strongly encouraged)
- Strong programming skills in C and Python
- Familiarity with Linux development tools and embedded platforms
- Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, socket programming)
- Exposure to embedded targets such as STM32 or Raspberry Pi Pico
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a government TS/SCI security clearance
Preferred qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Experience with embedded debugging tools, RTOS, or Linux kernel modules
- Familiarity with C++, C#, TypeScript, or Go for tooling/support apps
- Experience using Git and CI tooling
- Background in AI/ML product integration, signal processing, or control systems
- Proficiency with MATLAB for analysis or algorithm development
- Experience with scripting and test automation
Compensation & benefits
- Salary range: $71,200 – $101,000 per year (Confidential Client)
