Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer for Electronic Trading within their Global Banking & Markets organization. This engineering role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining high-performance options trading platforms, market data ingestion, and exchange connectivity. You will work on low-latency, production-grade systems used by traders and external clients.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance options trading platforms, including market data and exchange connectivity for internal and external users.
• Implement and evolve features that reflect US Options market structure, exchange service offerings, and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with traders, sales, clients, and compliance to translate business needs into reliable technical solutions.
• Contribute across the full product lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Optimize for low-latency and deterministic performance; profile and tune critical code paths and JVM/C++ runtime behavior.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related technical field.
• 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Java or C++.
• Strong experience working on Linux-based systems.
• Experience developing order management systems, exchange connectivity, or market data feeds for US Equities or Options markets.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Event Sourcing or sequenced-core stream architectures.
• Deep knowledge of JVM internals and tuning for low-latency applications.
• Proven experience building C++/Java systems with strict microsecond-level latency and deterministic performance requirements.
• Familiarity with performance profiling, benchmarking, and network-level optimizations.

Compensation & benefits

• Base salary range (New York, NY): $115,000 - $180,000 per year.
• May be eligible for discretionary bonus and standard employee benefits (health, retirement, paid time off) subject to role and eligibility.
