Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer to join an E‑Commerce AI Platform team building an end‑to‑end AI platform for LLMs, agentic AI, model training/serving, RAG, and AI orchestration for e‑commerce use cases. This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in San Jose, CA (expected up to 5 days/week on site).

What You’ll Do

• Lead design, implementation, and operation of scalable AI/LLM platform components supporting production e‑commerce services.
• Build and maintain systems for model training, model serving, deployment pipelines, and RAG/agent integrations.
• Integrate tools and subsystems (MCP/Skills/Tools, A2A/RAG, AutoPrompt) to enable business teams to build AI applications.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, ML research, SRE, and business teams to align platform capabilities with product needs.
• Drive technical innovation and evaluation of new LLM/agent technologies to maintain platform competitiveness.
• Own reliability, observability, and performance optimization of platform services in production.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• 1+ years hands‑on experience building, training, and deploying scalable machine learning systems.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns.
• Solid programming skills and practical experience with LLMs, agentic AI concepts, RAG, or chatbot/AI orchestration.
• Demonstrated ability to manage technical projects and deliver results.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep experience with agentic AI subsystems (RAG, AutoPrompt, tools/skills integration).
• Strong understanding of the full LLM lifecycle: data prep, training, fine‑tuning, serving, and monitoring.
• Experience with distributed systems, ML infra (training/serving), CI/CD for ML, and cloud platforms.
• Background working on e‑commerce or large consumer‑facing platforms is a plus.

Location & Work Arrangement

• This role is based in San Jose, CA. The client has moved toward a fully in‑person schedule (up to 5 days/week) to support real‑time decision making and cross‑team alignment.

Compensation & Benefits (Pay Transparency)

• Base salary range for San Jose, CA: $136,800 – $259,200 annually. Final pay depends on experience, skills, and location.
• May be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses and equity (RSUs).
• Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with company match, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, paid holidays, sick time, and paid personal time (details vary by employment type and location).
