About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer on the Developer Experience (DevEx) — Web team to build the foundational developer platform used across web applications. You will design and implement monorepos, build & CI systems, and agent-first development tooling that help web engineers ship faster and more reliably. This is a full-time role based in New York, NY. You must be located in New York, NY to be considered for this posting.
What You’ll Do
As a key member of the Web Developer Experience team you will:
- Design and implement monorepo strategies, libraries, and build systems to support many web products.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, release tooling, and developer-facing automation.
- Create and operationalize agent-first developer tools that accelerate local and remote development workflows.
- Ship changes safely in large, complex codebases and provide reliable migrations and rollouts.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product teams, platform engineers, and stakeholders to prioritize high-impact work.
- Mentor and evangelize best practices across the web engineering community; run workshops, design docs, and technical reviews.
- Use developer feedback and data to iterate and measure improvements in developer productivity and reliability.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum qualifications and skills:
- Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript in production environments.
- Proven ability to ship impactful changes in large, complex codebases and monorepos.
- Experience building or operating build systems, package tooling, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with developer tooling and workflows that improve developer productivity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document and teach solutions.
- Experience using AI coding tools (for example: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) across the software lifecycle (design, generate, test, monitor, release).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work on developer platforms, build systems, or monorepo tooling at scale.
- Deep understanding of web application lifecycles and front-end build pipelines.
- Experience mentoring peers and leading technical initiatives that impact many teams.
- Comfort integrating emerging AI-assisted development workflows into engineering processes.
Compensation & Benefits
The national base pay range for this position within the United States is:
- $130,600 — $192,000 USD (base salary)
Actual base pay is determined by job-related factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and work location. This role also includes opportunities for equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package, which typically includes:
