Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer focused on developer tooling to join a Developer Tooling team that supports a high-performance systematic trading business. You'll build and improve the tooling, build systems, and developer environments used by engineers and quantitative researchers to develop, test, and deploy production software efficiently.

What you’ll do

• Build and improve developer tooling across large-scale C++ and Python codebases
• Design and optimize build systems (CMake, Conan, Bazel or similar)
• Reduce compilation times, improve dependency management, and increase build reliability
• Automate development workflows, testing, and CI/CD pipelines
• Build internal tools that boost engineering productivity and software delivery
• Partner with software engineers and quantitative researchers to identify and resolve development bottlenecks

Who we’re looking for

• 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++
• Experience with build systems and package/dependency tools (CMake, Conan, Bazel, etc.)
• Solid Linux experience and familiarity with software development workflows and debugging
• Interest in developer productivity, build optimization, and infrastructure engineering
• Strong computer science fundamentals and the ability to tackle complex technical problems

Compensation

Base pay range (provided by Confidential Client): $200,000 — $400,000 per year. Actual pay will depend on skills and experience.
