What You’ll Do

This role sits at the center of keeping data pipelines healthy today and building the tools that replace brittle manual processes. You will work hands-on across the stack to operate, troubleshoot, and improve data systems, and collaborate directly with business stakeholders to deliver practical, production-ready solutions.

  • Own the day-to-day health of data pipelines: Python ETL jobs, dbt models in Snowflake, Azure Data Factory pipelines, and the reports and integrations that depend on them.
  • Triage failures to root cause and fix them — vendor schema changes, API rate limits, failed tests, broken dependencies.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to assess impact, coordinate fixes, and confirm resolutions.
  • Collaborate on code reviews, releases, alerting, validation, and retries so recurring tickets become permanent fixes.
  • Proactively find weaknesses in process, architecture, code quality, and security — and drive remediation.
  • Help design and enforce repeatable patterns for deployment, logging, testing, and secrets handling.
  • Build internal applications that replace SaaS, spreadsheets, and manual work; translate stakeholder problems into prototypes and production systems.
  • Use and share workflows for AI coding agents to accelerate the team’s productivity.

Who You Are (Required Qualifications)

  • 2–3 years of professional software or data engineering experience (exceptional new graduates with shipped work considered).
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Experience building or operating software in a cloud environment — Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable.
  • Comfortable debugging systems you didn’t build under time pressure with incomplete information.
  • Ability to translate business problems into pragmatic technical solutions.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • High integrity, humility, intellectual curiosity, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Snowflake and dbt.
  • Experience building internal tools or full-stack applications.
  • Background in financial services, energy, or another data-heavy industry.
  • Familiarity using AI coding agents in development workflows.
