What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is looking for entry-level Software Engineers to join teams within Data Software Engineering and Cloud Platforms. You will help design, build, deploy, and operate reliable, scalable data platforms and cloud services that power applications, analytics, and engineering workflows.
- Contribute to development, deployment, and ongoing improvement of data and cloud services.
- Learn and apply operational-excellence practices: SLOs, monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident response.
- Collaborate with software, data, ML, and cloud engineers to translate user needs into technical solutions and self-service tools.
- Implement features and projects from design through testing, deployment, and support with mentorship from senior engineers.
- Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, design discussions, documentation, and retrospectives.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code and help improve service reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and usability.
- Learn cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, observability, and the production lifecycle of systems.
- Build familiarity with data ingestion, processing, storage, serving, and platform automation tools.
What We’re Looking For
This is an early-career role (0–2 years) intended for candidates with academic, internship, co-op, or project experience in software engineering or related fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 0–2 years of software-engineering experience (internships, co-ops, academic projects, or equivalent).
- Foundational proficiency in at least one language: Python, Java, C++, or Go.
- Understanding of software-engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, testing, version control, and code review.
- Familiarity with services, applications, or data-processing systems.
- Exposure to at least one major public cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP) via coursework, projects, or internships.
- Basic awareness of distributed systems, APIs, microservices, containers, or cloud-native patterns.
- Exposure to deployment automation, monitoring/logging/metrics, or observability tooling.
Nice to Have
- Academic, internship, or personal-project experience in autonomous systems, robotics, machine learning, or large-scale data platforms.
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration (Kubernetes), or streaming data frameworks.
- Hands-on projects demonstrating data ingestion, ETL, or analytics pipelines.
