Overview

Confidential Client is building next-generation Agentic Search and analytics infrastructure that combines planning, retrieval, reasoning, tool execution, and iterative agentic loops. The team delivers scalable vector + full-text hybrid search solutions for internal products and external customers, contributes to open-source search and retrieval projects, and publishes research while shipping production-grade systems.

This Software Engineer role (Data Agent & Agentic Search) will work on multi-source, multimodal retrieval, semantic layers for heterogeneous enterprise data, and self-improving/data-driven agentic systems. Role is based in Seattle, WA.


What You’ll Do

  • Build Agentic Search and Analytics systems that combine planning, retrieval, reasoning, tool execution, and iterative agentic loops.
  • Implement multi-source, multimodal search across structured data, documents, images, audio, and video.
  • Design and build a unified semantic layer to represent entities, metrics, metadata, and relationships across heterogeneous enterprise data.
  • Research and prototype semantic accumulation and self-evolving agents that improve via interactions, feedback, memory, and historical executions.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to productionize retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, and multimodal retrieval features.
  • Contribute to architecture and code for large-scale distributed search and vector database systems and integrations with engines like Elasticsearch/OpenSearch and Milvus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Strong coding, data structures, and algorithms skills; proficient in one or more of: Python, Java, C++, Golang.
  • Familiarity with LLMs, agents, search, RAG, information retrieval, or machine learning.
  • Strong problem-solving, learning agility, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with agentic search, data agents, RAG, or AI search (research, internships, projects).
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Milvus, Faiss, Qdrant, or similar retrieval systems.
  • Experience implementing tool-calling, memory, planning, or agent evaluation frameworks.
  • Background in semantic layers, knowledge graphs, multimodal retrieval, or large-scale data processing.
  • Experience building production distributed systems that serve high-throughput retrieval workloads.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range for this position in the selected city: $153,900 - $300,960 annually.
  • Total compensation may include discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units where applicable.
