Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer – Cyber Security to join a specialized software team working on high‑impact, mission‑critical systems in the St. Charles, MO area. This role focuses on application and embedded software development across the full lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and integration. Candidates must hold or be eligible for U.S. government security clearance (see Security & Workplace below).
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded and application software across the software lifecycle.
- Translate customer and system requirements into software designs and interface definitions.
- Implement and maintain code in C++, Python, and C# for Linux-based environments.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support system-level integration and verification.
- Participate in peer code reviews and drive high standards for code quality and documentation.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software and integration issues in complex systems.
- Produce and maintain clear software documentation to support sustainment and future development.
What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: typically 5+ years for experienced level; 9+ years for senior level in relevant software development roles.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python; experience with C# is a plus.
- Strong Linux development experience and familiarity with common development tools and workflows.
- Experience with version control systems (git).
- Solid understanding of software design methodologies, network architectures, and embedded systems.
- Demonstrated experience in unit testing and integration testing practices.
- U.S. Secret security clearance required (or ability to obtain). Ability to obtain Top Secret and Special Program access is required for certain program work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Special Program Access (highly desirable).
- Prior experience on defense, aerospace, or other safety‑critical systems.
- Experience with open architecture software development and modular system design.
- Familiarity with continuous integration, automated testing frameworks, and tooling for embedded Linux.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience creating detailed technical documentation.

Security & Workplace

- Location: St. Charles, MO (on-site or primarily on-site as required by program). Telework/remote arrangements will depend on program rules and clearance requirements.
