Position Overview
Confidential client is seeking a Software Engineer (C++) to design, build, and deliver production-grade C/C++ software on Linux systems. You will work daily in CI/CD pipelines to compile, test, and deliver artifacts, apply sound software design principles, and collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to keep delivery fast, reliable, and secure. This is a full-time role based in Manassas, VA. An active DoD Secret clearance is required.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain C/C++ applications on Linux using command-line tooling and associated toolchains
- Work daily within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) to automatically compile, test, and deliver C++ artifacts, containerized or otherwise
- Use Git version control, participate in code reviews, run static analysis, and troubleshoot build/test failures
- Apply software design fundamentals, design patterns, architectural styles, and SOLID principles to build maintainable, scalable systems
- Collaborate across development, operations, and security teams to ensure fast, reliable, and secure delivery
- Contribute to automated testing, release pipelines, and continuous improvement of the delivery process
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance required
- Hands-on experience with C/C++ development on Linux and associated command-line toolchains
- Daily experience using CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) to build, test, and deliver software artifacts
- Solid foundation in Git, code reviews, static analysis, and build/test troubleshooting
- Strong grounding in software design fundamentals (design patterns, architectural styles, SOLID principles)
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
Nice to Have
- Experience with GitLab and a variety of CI/CD pipeline strategies
- Demonstrated experience architecting and modernizing large, complex legacy systems; hands-on with Java, C, and/or C++
- DevOps and automation experience: Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automated testing, and release pipeline construction
- API design and integration experience (REST, gRPC, GraphQL, OpenAPI)
- Familiarity with SAST tools (e.g., Fortify) and binary repositories (Artifactory, Nexus)
- Prior involvement with programs at the Manassas, VA site
- Proficiency with Agile, Scrum, and DevOps practices
