Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer to join a Content APIs team building backend services and GraphQL APIs that power large-scale digital products and content experiences. This role is a strong fit for early-career engineers with 2+ years of software engineering experience (internships count) who want hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and modern backend tooling.


What You’ll Do

You will work on backend services, GraphQL APIs, and content ingestion pipelines that support content discovery and delivery across digital platforms. You'll collaborate with senior engineers, product, QA, and DevOps to deliver reliable, scalable services.

  • Develop, test, and maintain backend services and GraphQL APIs using Golang and Node.js.
  • Build new features and enhance existing microservices with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Contribute to content ingestion pipelines and backend data systems.
  • Work with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and AWS services (including AWS Lambda).
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code; develop unit and integration tests.
  • Participate in code reviews, debug production issues, and improve monitoring and CI/CD.
  • Use AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) responsibly to accelerate development—validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and technical discussions; seek mentorship and provide feedback.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of software engineering experience (internships welcome).
  • Experience with at least one language such as Golang, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Python.
  • Basic understanding of backend development and REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Familiarity with Git, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Curiosity and willingness to adopt AI-assisted development tools and evaluate AI-generated code.

Desired / Nice-to-Have

  • Practical experience with Golang, Node.js, or TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL, AWS (Lambda and serverless patterns), MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Contributions to open-source or personal projects.
  • Interest in media technology, content systems, or distributed systems at scale.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Claude.

Additional Details

  • Location & schedule: Hybrid role requiring on-site presence at a New York office a minimum of four days per week. The client may modify in-office requirements.
  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • Compensation: $110,000 - $120,000 (annual).
