What You’ll Do
You will design and ship software that automates commissioning across sites: test orchestration, data capture, pass/fail analysis, and reporting. Your work will turn manual commissioning expertise into verifiable, repeatable software that integrates with building and test systems so evidence collects itself.
- Build commissioning automation: orchestration, data capture, pass/fail analysis for L4 and L5 commissioning.
- Turn commissioning scripts/processes into executable, repeatable code that runs reliably across sites.
- Integrate with BMS, EPMS, test equipment, and instrumentation so results are automatically collected.
- Design auditability and traceability so every result maps back to raw data and test artifacts.
- Ship reporting and live status dashboards so commissioning lives in tooling — not binders.
- Operate with production discipline: deploy, monitor, iterate, and support tooling used by operations and field teams.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, MEP, and site operations teams to ensure tools meet on-site needs.
What We’re Looking For
The list below is a starting point. We welcome exceptional candidates who may not match every bullet — explain where you add value.
- Experience building test automation or orchestration systems for hardware, infrastructure, or industrial environments.
- Hands-on experience integrating software with control systems or instrumentation (BMS, EPMS, telemetry, test equipment).
- Strong software engineering skills and production experience in one or more of: Python, Go, TypeScript.
- Demonstrated ability to replace manual expert processes with software people trust.
- Design-first approach to auditability and traceability (results traceable to raw data).
- Experience shipping fast while maintaining production quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- High ownership, first-principles problem solving, and strong cross-discipline communication.
Nice to Have
- Direct commissioning domain experience (data center commissioning, site acceptance).
- Familiarity with BMS protocols (BACnet/Modbus/etc.) and data center MEP systems.
- Experience with test equipment automation, RTUs, or industrial control stacks.
- Willingness to travel to commissioning sites as needed.
Location & Compensation
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. Work will involve coordination with site teams and may require occasional travel to build or commissioning sites.
Compensation range: $224,000 - $279,000 (annual). Our client is committed to pay equity and transparency; listed range reflects expected base pay for this role.
Benefits: competitive benefits package (medical, retirement, paid time off), professional development, and other standard employee benefits — specifics provided by our client at offer stage.
