The Software Engineer, Cloud at Confidential Client is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable backend platforms and APIs on Cloud infrastructure that support AI-enabled healthcare applications. This role involves building event-driven data pipelines processing clinical and operational data, collaborating across teams in a regulated environment, and contributing to both backend and occasional frontend components to deliver impactful medical device software solutions.

Position summary
Confidential client is hiring a backend-focused Software Engineer, Cloud to design, build, and maintain secure, high-performance cloud services and data pipelines that power AI-enabled healthcare products. You will work on event-driven systems that handle large medical data objects (images, videos, STL files, CT scans) and integrate AI model inference and analysis. This role is collaborative, regulated-environment aware, and offers opportunities to contribute to front-end SPA components at times.
What You’ll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable backend APIs and services hosted in the Cloud to support medical and clinical applications.
- Build cloud-hosted data ingestion and processing pipelines for large binary objects (images, video, STL files).
- Deliver event-driven and high-throughput systems focused on reliability, observability, and performance.
- Write automated unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews to ensure quality and maintainability.
- Prototype proofs-of-concept to validate architecture and performance approaches for backend/cloud solutions.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, QA, mobile/XR/web/desktop engineers, product security, and regulatory teams.
- Contribute to architecture documentation, deployment patterns, and operational runbooks.
- Occasionally assist with front-end SPA components (React/Angular) when cross-team needs arise.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline, plus 2+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong experience developing backend services and APIs hosted on Cloud platforms (PaaS/SaaS/IaaS).
- Proficient in one or more modern programming languages such as C#, Python, or Java; familiarity with design patterns and clean, testable code.
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting distributed systems and backend pipelines.
- Familiarity with Single Page Application frameworks (React or Angular) for occasional front-end work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience working in cross-functional teams.
Preferred
- Experience with Docker containers and related orchestration.
- Familiarity with security protocols and best practices (OAuth, SSL/TLS).
- Prior exposure to regulated software or medical device software development and associated quality/regulatory processes.

Compensation & Benefits
- United States pay ranges (as posted by our client): $89,300 — $193,400 USD annual (ranges vary by work location/level; see transparency guide for your specific location).
