What You’ll Do

  • Develop embedded software for new and legacy products within the Robotics Automation Group to control robot motion, interface with vacuum chamber sub-systems, and perform self-diagnostics for the Confidential Client.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, product management, and customers to define product features that support design-ins and customer requirements.
  • Write, review, and communicate software requirements and design changes; participate in design and code reviews.
  • Ensure software reliability and quality using automated testing, unit/integration tests, and development best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (Zero Defects / DevOps) by researching and evaluating process improvements and tools.
  • Work with hardware and test teams to design test equipment and set up robotic hardware or systems.
  • Support manufacturing and field service teams in investigating and troubleshooting field issues (remote or on-site as needed).

What You’ll Bring

  • Proficiency in C++ (C++11 or later) for embedded applications.
  • Experience with embedded real‑time systems in multi-threaded, interrupt-driven environments (e.g., QNX or Real‑Time Linux).
  • Experience with BSP and low-level hardware interfaces, including FPGA integration, hardware abstraction layers (HAL), interrupt handling, and board bring-up.
  • Strong object-oriented design skills and the ability to apply design best practices to embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with modern SDLC practices: revision control, remote debugging, automated testing, and software release processes; experience in Agile teams preferred.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working with customers to address field issues.
  • Background in robotics, kinematics/dynamics, or motion planning.
  • Experience with EtherCAT software stacks.
  • Familiarity with machine learning methods applied to embedded systems.
  • Scripting experience (Python, JavaScript, MATLAB) to support automation and test development.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $105,593.46 USD to $142,861.74 USD per year.
    • Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
  • This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus (where applicable).

Work Location & Flexibility

  • This role supports a mix of in-office and remote work depending on business needs. Specific on-site expectations (e.g., frequency of lab/hardware time) will be discussed during interviews.
  • Applicants should be able to travel occasionally to support field or manufacturing troubleshooting when required.
