About the Role
Confidential client is hiring a Software Engineer in Chantilly, VA to support development of Linux and Windows applications used in mission-focused systems and image-processing desktop tools. This is a full-time role that will work across software design, implementation, debugging, and lifecycle activities.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to development of C and C++ (VC++) applications on Linux and/or Windows.
- Implement object‑oriented designs and follow software lifecycle processes.
- Work on desktop applications used for image processing or mission systems.
- Integrate software with hardware communication interfaces when required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on design and code reviews.
- Support containerization and deployment workflows when applicable (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Assist with GPU-accelerated components (e.g., CUDA) when project needs require.
- Follow modern software design patterns and contribute to architectural decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for this opportunity you must meet the schooling requirement below and the technical base:
- Pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or have completed a Master’s degree within the last 12 months.
- Proficiency in C and/or C++ (VC++).
- Experience developing software for Linux and/or Windows platforms.
- Familiarity with object‑oriented design and the software development lifecycle.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills
- Prior exposure to image processing or military/mission systems software.
- GUI design and desktop application experience.
- Experience with hardware communications or embedded interfaces.
- Containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
- GPU development experience (CUDA).
- Familiarity with modern software patterns and design methodologies.
Compensation & Benefits
- In compliance with pay-transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas is $86,000 - $160,000. Final offers depend on experience, role, and location.
