What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is building a world-scale Content Delivery Network (CDN) to support Starlink services. As a Software Engineer on the CDN team you will design, implement, and operate highly available, low-latency distributed systems that shape traffic across global CDNs and edge networks.

  • Design, build, and scale a new Content Delivery Network for Starlink services
  • Implement robust, responsive, and scalable distributed systems and services
  • Build tools, observability, and alerting to diagnose and operate business‑critical systems in real time
  • Design algorithms to optimize hardware utilization, cost, and performance
  • Shape cross-CDN traffic routing and policy systems
  • Lead and participate in architecture, design, and code reviews
  • Prototype and run experiments to validate future design concepts and use cases

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another STEM field — OR 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree
  • Professional software development experience in C, C++, or Rust

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Hands-on networking experience and familiarity with network stacks (layers 0–7)
  • Internship or professional experience with distributed systems
  • Experience designing, building, or scaling CDN systems
  • Experience with edge networking, DNS, traffic management, caching, load balancing, SSL/TLS, DDoS mitigation, or monitoring
  • Knowledge of network topology, numerical optimization, graph theory, or convex optimization
  • Track record of shipping, debugging, and running scalable software in production
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and engineering fundamentals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends on occasion as needed for operational support or launches
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and operations teams

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range:

  • Level 1: $135,000 - $160,000 (base salary)
  • Level 2: $155,000 - $195,000 (base salary)

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is one component of total compensation which may include long-term incentives (company stock or cash awards), discretionary bonuses, and other benefits. Benefits may include medical, vision, dental, retirement plan access, disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, paid time off, and additional company-provided perks.

  • A U.S. citizen or U.S. national; or
  • A U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder); or

  • Eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations
