What You’ll Do

This is a full-time software engineering role to develop, test, deploy, and maintain C, C++ and Java applications that support defense-related programs. You will work on distributed web and enterprise systems, contribute to requirements analysis and design, write production-quality code, and maintain software on Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platforms. Work will be performed in Martinsville, VA and may include travel up to 20%.

  • Interface with stakeholders and users to gather and document software requirements
  • Design and implement features in C/C++ and Java for multi-threaded and distributed systems
  • Build, test, install, and maintain software on Windows and RHEL (Linux CLI)
  • Create and update technical documentation, run unit/integration tests, and troubleshoot issues
  • Participate in Agile team activities (sprints, code reviews, CI/CD)
  • Support deployment and sustainment activities at government and contractor sites, as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field — or equivalent professional experience/certifications in lieu of degree
  • 1+ years of professional programming experience with C and C++
  • Experience working in Linux (RHEL) environments and comfortable with the Linux command line
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams
  • Willingness and ability to obtain required information assurance certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or equivalent)
  • U.S. citizenship required; TS/SCI clearance required (or ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI) and ability to pass a CI polygraph

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with build systems (CMake, Make) and debugging tools (GDB)
  • Experience developing multi-threaded Java applications and Java EE / Jakarta EE technologies
  • Experience with Java application servers (Tomcat, JBoss/WildFly) and Jakarta EE components (JDBC, Servlet/JSP, EJB/JPA)
  • Experience with Java Spring framework and RESTful web services
  • Relational database experience (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and JDBC
  • Experience delivering and maintaining software on Linux at scale
  • Familiarity with version control and CI tools (Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jira)
  • Web front-end experience (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Angular) and thick-client Java Swing familiarity a plus

Security Clearance & Eligibility

This role requires TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship. Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and a CI polygraph. Employment is contingent upon successfully meeting and maintaining eligibility requirements for access to classified information.


Location & Travel

Primary work location: Martinsville, VA (on-site). Travel within CONUS/OCONUS up to approximately 20% may be required.
