What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a hands-on Software Engineer to join the Trading Systems team within Front Office Systems. You will design, build, deploy, and support critical trading and investment workflow applications used by traders, portfolio managers, and operations teams.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support backend services, APIs, and web applications that power trading workflows
- Build and maintain backend systems primarily using Python and C#
- Contribute to modern front-end interfaces using React and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Develop cloud-based solutions on AWS (EKS, Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS) and support containerized deployments
- Integrate systems with OMS/EMS platforms, market data providers, trading venues, and internal operational tools
- Improve order lifecycle management, trading, execution, allocation, and post-trade processes
- Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable fixes
- Participate in architecture and design discussions, code reviews, testing and release processes
- Identify opportunities to increase reliability, performance, scalability, automation, and developer productivity
- Explore and apply Generative AI / LLM-based capabilities to improve workflows and user experience
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team
What We’re Looking For
We seek a seasoned engineer with experience building production-grade systems in business-critical environments, ideally within financial services or asset management.
- Strong professional software engineering experience; experience in financial services, fintech, or asset management preferred
- Solid object-oriented programming skills — Python and/or .NET (C#) experience required
- Experience designing and building backend services, REST APIs, microservices, and integrations
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EKS, Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS) and container orchestration
- Front-end experience with React and JavaScript/TypeScript is highly valued
- Proficiency with relational databases and SQL
- Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization, Kubernetes, DevOps practices, and production observability tools
- Experience supporting front-office trading systems, market data integrations, OMS/EMS platforms, or trading workflows is a plus
- Knowledge of trading concepts (order routing, execution, allocations, post-trade) and financial instruments (equities, ETFs, derivatives, FX, fixed income) is advantageous
- Exposure to Generative AI / LLMs, AI-assisted features, or agentic AI frameworks is welcome
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to deliver high-quality work independently and to mentor others
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $325,000 per year. Final salary placement will depend on experience, qualifications, role scope, and other relevant factors. Confidential Client also maintains a total compensation approach that may include discretionary bonuses and a robust benefits package.
