Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot software applications and systems for mission-focused products.
  • Write and maintain C/C++ and Java code using modern software development practices.
  • Work with Linux-based systems (Red Hat, CentOS) and real-time data processing environments.
  • Use Git and other version control tools to manage and maintain code.
  • Build and maintain containers using Docker and participate in CI/CD pipelines and automation.
  • Identify bugs, performance issues, and system bottlenecks; help design and implement fixes.
  • Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle: design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance.
  • Contribute to system design, testing infrastructure, and software used across the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and experienced developers; learn best practices and follow a structured development process.
  • Follow secure-development practices and participate in code reviews and documentation.

Basic Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of C and C++.
  • Understanding of basic software development practices, including branching, merging, testing, and code reviews.
  • Basic knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and modeling or simulation concepts.
  • Familiarity with Bash or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with Git or another version control system.
  • Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD concepts.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems (preferably Red Hat or CentOS).
  • U.S. citizenship required (role may require access to government systems and/or a background investigation).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or coursework in Java and MATLAB (a plus).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and software development practices.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude and interest in growing as a software professional.

Location & Employment Type

  • Location: Bowie, MD
  • Employment type: Full-time
  • On-site or client-site work in Bowie may be required. U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass background checks are required for this position.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $57,850.00 - $104,575.00 (USD, annual). This range is provided by the hiring organization as a guideline and is not a guaranteed offer. Final compensation depends on relevant experience, skills, education, and internal alignment.
  • Benefits may include competitive compensation, health & wellness programs, income protection, paid leave, and retirement plans. Exact benefits are provided by the hiring organization.
