Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Full‑Stack Software Engineer to work primarily on a mission-oriented web platform used by frontline workers globally. This role favors engineers who enjoy small-team environments, rapid prototyping, and building resilient software for challenging contexts. The position is remote-eligible with priority given to candidates located in the Greater Boston area; the interview process includes an in-person interview at the Cambridge (Kendall Square / CIC) office.


What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain product features using modern engineering best practices: version control, continuous integration, automated tests, and frequent deploys.
  • Collaborate with multicultural development and implementation teams located around the world.
  • Design and implement software that is usable in low-connectivity environments and by users with limited technology experience.
  • Participate in agile development processes, code reviews, and release testing.
  • Surface blockers early and work with your engineering manager/team lead to remove impediments.
  • Contribute to product design discussions and help prioritize technical debt and improvements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong fluency in Python and experience building production-quality web applications.
  • Practical experience with backend components such as Django, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
  • Frontend experience with JavaScript and familiarity with lightweight frameworks/tools (e.g., Alpine.js, HTMX), plus HTML/CSS and Bootstrap.
  • Comfortable working with version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and daily deploys.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing tasks and proactively communicate blockers.
  • Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., code assistants such as Claude Code) is a plus.
  • Interest in public health and international development and familiarity with open-source technology are highly valued.
  • Bonus: experience with data engineering.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $118,094 annually (calculated for the Greater Boston Area; salary will be cost‑of‑living adjusted if you choose to be based elsewhere).

Location & Work Logistics

  • If you prefer, you may work from the Cambridge CIC office.
