Overview
This is a hybrid, full-time Software Engineer role supporting a confidential client in the Insurance industry. You'll join a product team building AWS-based, event-driven solutions and APIs that modernize how associates, agents, and product/policy agreements interact across multiple lines of business. This role focuses on cloud migration, API development, and long-term production support.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, integrate, and support enterprise solutions running on AWS.
- Build capabilities supporting Associate-to-Product Agreement Relationships across multiple business areas.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs, AWS Lambda functions (Java or Node.js), and event-driven solutions.
- Participate in migration of data and applications from on-premises PostgreSQL to AWS.
- Implement user stories from an Agile backlog and collaborate across engineering teams.
- Apply software engineering best practices including automated testing and Continuous Integration.
- Contribute to application and data design decisions and support solutions through development and production lifecycles.
Qualifications
We’re looking for candidates who have:
- Java and object-oriented application development experience
- Experience with Spring / Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud technologies
- Experience building AWS Lambda functions using Java or Node.js
- Familiarity with Amazon API Gateway and REST API design
- Experience with system integration and data migration
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns
- Experience with Continuous Integration and automated testing
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment
Preferred / Additional Skills
- JavaScript or Node.js development experience
- Experience with React or Angular (frontend familiarity helpful)
- Event-driven architecture experience
- PostgreSQL or other relational database experience
- Cloud data migration and data modeling experience
- Experience taking an application or major capability from design through production

Workplace & Sponsorship
- Work model: Hybrid. Qualified candidates should live within close proximity to the Bloomington, IL hub and expect a mix of remote and on-site work.

Compensation & Benefits
- Potential starting salary range: $97,000 - $135,000 (starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience; higher end limited to applicants with significant relevant experience)
