Role overview
Join a Confidential Client engineering team building production autonomy software for deployed industrial autonomous vehicles. This early-career Software Engineer role focuses on calibration, mapping, and localization (CLAM) for real vehicles—developing, testing, and shipping algorithms and tools used in real-world fleets. You'll work with senior engineers and cross-functional teams (vehicle infrastructure, hardware, QA, Perception, Planning, Control) to deliver robust mapping and localization on physical hardware.
What You'll Do
- Implement, tune, and test mapping, localization, and sensor-calibration algorithms in C++ and Python.
- Build and maintain tools, metrics, and continuous testing frameworks to validate performance.
- Debug algorithm performance using real-world and simulated sensor data; iterate from vehicle test feedback.
- Integrate CLAM components with vehicle infrastructure and autonomy stacks; participate in code reviews and testing.
- Own scoped components and deliver to product-driven milestones while learning from senior engineers.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, or similar technical field (MS is a plus).
- Strong foundations in probability, linear algebra, 3D geometry, and spatial coordinate transforms.
- Familiarity or demonstrated willingness to learn matrix factorization and Lie algebra/groups.
- Knowledge of 3D LiDAR-based mapping/localization concepts (e.g., LOAM, GICP, FastLIO, bundle adjustment).
- Exposure to state estimation frameworks or nonlinear optimization libraries (EKFs, GTSAM, G2O, Ceres, etc.).
- 2–4 years of experience (including internships, research, or academic projects) developing robotics or autonomous vehicle software.
- Proficiency in C++ in collaborative environments (unit testing, code review, version control).
- Proficiency in Python.
- Strong written and verbal communication; eagerness to learn from senior engineers.
Bonus Qualifications
- Academic publications, patents, or notable open-source contributions.
- GPU/CUDA experience for algorithm acceleration.
- Hands-on experience deploying or tuning algorithms on physical vehicles/robots.
- Experience with multi-sensor calibration and mis-alignment detection.
- Camera-based SLAM and 3D multi-view geometry experience.
- Familiarity with ROS2 and modern engineering tools (Git, Jira).

Compensation & Employment Type
- Salary range: $162,000 - $180,000 a year (base). This range is provided to comply with pay-transparency requirements for listings in applicable jurisdictions.
