Role Overview

Confidential Client (Software Development) is seeking a Software Engineer - Android to join their team in Carlsbad, CA. This is a full-time, onsite role focused on building native Android applications, prototypes, and client demonstrations that support product wins and customer deployments. You will work closely with product managers and other engineers across the full software development lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

• Build proof-of-concept prototypes and client demonstrations to support contract bids and new business.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications using modern Android toolchains.
• Contribute to system architecture, API design, and technical decisions across the stack.
• Monitor app and system performance; diagnose and resolve reliability and scalability issues.
• Develop and maintain backend services and integrations required by mobile apps.
• Run pilot implementations, troubleshoot on-site issues, and guide resolution with customers.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate client needs into practical solutions.
• Travel to customer locations (up to 25%) to support product delivery and ongoing optimization.

Who You Are

• Energized by open-ended technical challenges in early-stage product development.
• Curious about and excited to learn emerging machine learning methodologies and tooling.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in Java and Kotlin for Android development.
• Experience with mobile database frameworks such as ObjectBox or SQLite.
• Comfortable using version control systems (Git).
• Familiarity with relational databases and distributed storage systems.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker; exposure to Kubernetes is a plus).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Able and willing to travel to customer locations up to 25% of the time.
• Authorized to work in the United States; this role is onsite in Carlsbad, CA.

Compensation

• Expected pay range: $120,000–$150,000 per year. Compensation is based on experience, skills, location, and other factors. This range is provided in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.
