Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to design and deploy AI-assisted administrative automations and integrations that reduce errors, accelerate care coordination, and free staff to focus on outcomes. This role is implementation-focused: you will translate operational requirements into reliable services, integrate APIs and webhooks, and build document-extraction and validation workflows that run in production.

This position accepts part-time or full-time candidates. The role is remote-first with occasional onsite collaboration in Atlanta, GA.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate operational requirements into maintainable, well-tested software.
  • Integrate REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party services (e.g., EHR/CRM platforms, form/intake systems).
  • Build document ingestion pipelines, including OCR/document-AI extraction, validation rules, and exception routing.
  • Implement notification and follow-up workflows (email, task systems, ticketing).
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain services in the cloud; instrument applications for observability and error handling.
  • Write unit and integration tests; document architecture and runbooks.
  • Follow approved security and HIPAA-compliant practices for protected health information.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operations stakeholders to iterate on automation outcomes.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong Python (or comparable language) programming skills.
  • Practical experience with REST APIs and structured data formats (JSON, XML).
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Demonstrable portfolio: be prepared to show personally built software, repositories, or demos.
  • Clear, thoughtful debugging and written/verbal communication.

Preferred

  • Experience with FastAPI (or similar frameworks), TypeScript/React for front-end components.
  • Cloud deployment experience (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with OCR/document-AI tools and LLM APIs for extraction/triage.
  • Experience designing authentication and secure application patterns.
  • Healthcare or HIPAA-related project experience is a plus but not required.

Compensation & Work Model

  • Pay range: $40–$60 per hour (approximately $83,200–$124,800 per year), commensurate with experience and employment type.
  • Employment type: Part-time or Full-time (contractor/FT/PT arrangements may be considered per candidate).
  • Remote-first role with occasional onsite collaboration required in Atlanta, GA.
  • Direct hire by Confidential Client; careertakes is acting as the recruiting platform.

Nice to know

  • Initial projects include incoming fax/document monitoring with denial detection and routing; referral/POC/document signature tracking with automated follow-ups; and website intake triage feeding qualified leads into workflow systems (e.g., CRM/operations boards).
  • Candidates from Georgia Tech, recent graduates, and early-career engineers with strong demonstrable projects are encouraged to apply.
  • Qualified applicants may be asked to complete a short online cognitive aptitude or technical assessment as part of the process.
