What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is building Starmind — a satellite constellation that captures solar energy in space to enable high-performance AI compute for Earth. As a Software Engineer on this program you will own and deliver highly reliable software across the full lifecycle: design, implementation, test, deployment, and on-orbit support.

  • Develop highly reliable, real-time software for gateways, satellites, user terminals, and network switches in a low-latency, high-capacity satellite network.
  • Lead and participate in architecture, design, and code reviews to ensure robust, maintainable systems.
  • Build prototypes and run experiments to validate design decisions and performance targets.
  • Create tools for software development, deployment, data analysis/visualization, and automated test execution across virtualized, hardware-in-the-loop, and on-orbit environments.
  • Deploy and maintain continuous integration, test execution, and release pipelines for mission-critical software.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a science discipline; OR 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree (relevant internships count).
  • Production development experience in C, C++, or assembly.
  • Experience building applications and distributed systems in a Linux environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, testable, and maintainable code.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Strong first-principles problem solving and software design focused on correctness and maintainability.
  • Significant professional experience writing C, C++ or assembly in production systems.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and deploying software used in real-world projects.
  • Familiarity with real-time rendering, physics simulation, game engine development, or other resource-constrained high-performance computing domains.
  • Experience with networking protocols (UDP, TCP/IP) and distributed systems design.
  • Awareness of security considerations for distributed systems and internet services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-changing environment.
  • Experience with automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop simulation, and on-site or on-orbit test support.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work extended hours or weekends occasionally to meet mission-critical deadlines.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to support on-site testing.
  • This role may require access to export-controlled technology. As required by U.S. export regulations (ITAR/EAR), applicants must be U.S. persons or otherwise eligible to obtain necessary authorizations.

ITAR & Authorization Requirements

To comply with U.S. Government export regulations, this position requires that applicants be one of the following: (i) a U.S. citizen or national, (ii) a U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) a Refugee under 8 U.S.C. §1157, or (iv) an Asylee under 8 U.S.C. §1158 — or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Applicants will be asked to confirm their eligibility where applicable.
