What You’ll Do

This internship is for an engineer who will help design, build, and deliver software and ML solutions that support large-scale semiconductor inspection and metrology systems. You will work within cross-functional teams to prototype, implement, test, and deploy data pipelines, model training and inference, and production-ready software components.

  • Contribute to ML model development for classification, regression, and generative tasks.
  • Implement data ingestion, cleaning, feature engineering, and dataset management for large imaging/data sets.
  • Develop and optimize training and inference workflows using frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Build robust, multi-threaded components in Python, C++, C#, or Java for high-performance systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers across software, apps, and process teams to integrate ML into product platforms.
  • Work with distributed computing, containerization, cloud storage, and GPU-based compute clusters as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype algorithms and end-to-end ML pipelines for production usage.
  • Optimize code and models for inference performance on GPU/accelerated hardware.
  • Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and sprint planning.
  • Document experiments, model performance, and reproducible training procedures.
  • Troubleshoot data and model issues in large-scale, distributed environments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Master’s degree student or PhD candidate in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Applied Math, or a related field.
  • Hands-on development experience in one or more of: Python, C++, C#, or Java.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and multi-threaded/multi-process software design.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and formulate technical solutions.

Preferred / Highly Desirable Skills

  • Experience with traditional ML methods (Random Forest, XGBoost, Logistic Regression).
  • Experience with deep learning (classification, regression, or generative models).
  • Familiarity with ML libraries and tools: TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, scikit-learn.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems for data management and distributed computing infrastructure.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and compute clusters.
  • Familiarity with GPU architectures and efficient data flow for high-throughput workloads.

Professional & Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and prioritize tasks.
  • Motivation to learn and contribute to team success.
