Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Software Engineer to join a team building customer-facing AI Developer products. You will work on applied AI features, developer experience (DevX) tooling, and product-quality code across Java and the Node.js/TypeScript ecosystem. This role is hands-on: design, implement, test, and deliver features used by external customers and developer communities.

What You’ll Do

• Build clean, scalable, reusable code and enforce engineering best practices (code reviews, unit tests, CI).
• Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, test automation, and delivery.
• Design simple, extensible software that enables customers to customize and extend functionality.
• Implement new product features and continuously improve the existing product suite.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other engineers to turn requirements into robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Passion for applying AI to solve developer needs and improve developer productivity.
• Experience writing production code in Java and/or JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js).
• Familiarity with modern UI frameworks (React or similar).
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and common design patterns.
• Practical knowledge of developer tools and environments (IDEs, debuggers, build tools, source control, Unix tools).
• Analytical and system-design skills; attention to performance and scalability.
• Experience with AI productivity tools (e.g., Windsurf, Cursor) is a plus.
• 0–2+ years of professional development experience (entry-level to early-career).

Compensation & Benefits

For positions in this location (San Diego, CA), the base pay guideline is: $113,100 - $175,300 per year. Total compensation may include equity (when applicable), variable/incentive pay, and benefits. Individual compensation will vary based on qualifications, skills, and work location.
