Position Summary

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer - AI to design, build, test, deploy, and support secure, scalable AI-enabled applications and integrations. This entry-level, full-time role works across the full solution lifecycle — from requirements and architecture through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement — with a strong focus on responsible AI, data protection, and secure engineering practices in a regulated banking environment.


What You’ll Do

Confidential Client’s AI engineering team builds generative AI apps, intelligent agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions, document intelligence, predictive models, APIs, and automation. In this role you will:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain secure, modular, and reusable applications and services.
  • Build generative AI features, knowledge search, conversational interfaces, and RAG solutions.
  • Implement integrations with enterprise APIs, data platforms, document repositories, and workflow tools.
  • Prepare and transform structured and unstructured data for grounding, embeddings, and model consumption.
  • Create and execute unit, integration, security, performance, and AI-specific tests and evaluations.
  • Implement guardrails, human-review controls, auditability, and validation appropriate to each use case.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD, MLOps, and GenAIOps processes for approved solutions and monitor production health.
  • Partner with product owners, data engineers, cloud engineers, information security, enterprise risk, and compliance to deliver solutions that balance innovation with regulatory requirements.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, test evidence, and operational runbooks.

Typical Task Allocation

  • 35% — Solution development (applications, RAG, agents, document intelligence).
  • 15% — Integration & engineering (APIs, data pipelines, grounding).
  • 10% — Quality, testing & responsible AI (validation, bias, security).
  • 10% — Deployment, monitoring & lifecycle management (CI/CD, observability).
  • 10% — Requirements, architecture & delivery (design, estimation, stakeholder alignment).
  • 10% — Project management and strategic alignment (scoping, backlogs, ROI tracking).
  • 10% — Research, documentation & support (POCs, design reviews, demos).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years professional software development experience.
  • Experience building applications or services with Python, C#/.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Node.js.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and working with modern web frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience or applied projects in AI, ML, NLP, generative AI, or intelligent automation.
  • Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, structured and unstructured data, and APIs.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals: source control, modular design, automated testing, secure coding, code review, and CI/CD.
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. (Confidential Client is not able to sponsor visas).

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Experience with Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable cloud AI platforms.
  • Experience with prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, RAG, AI agents, and model lifecycle management.
  • Experience in a regulated industry (financial services preferred).
  • Certifications in Microsoft Azure, AI, software development, or DevOps.
  • Familiarity with MLOps/GenAIOps practices and instrumentation for model evaluation and observability.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, relevance, bias, privacy, security, and fitness for purpose.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI, data governance, model risk, and human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps or GitHub, infrastructure as code, and cloud-native solution patterns.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain AI capabilities, limitations, risks, and technical design decisions to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, able to manage multiple initiatives, document solutions thoroughly, and adapt as AI technologies evolve.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $73,600.00 - $98,141.00 (annual)

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
