Role Overview
Our confidential client, a leader in Defense and Space Manufacturing, is hiring Software Engineers — AI Automation (Internal Tools) to join a small, high-leverage Internal AI Tools team in Los Angeles, CA. In this role you’ll design, build, and operate AI-driven automations, bots, and internal applications that remove repetitive work and accelerate business teams across finance, HR, supply chain, manufacturing, and more.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain secure AI-powered automations and workflows (report generation, approval flows, policy Q&A, data reconciliation).
- Implement internal tools and microservices that integrate with finance, HR, IT, cyber, supply chain, manufacturing, and sales systems.
- Develop Slack/Teams bots, lightweight web frontends, and internal “copilot” applications for business users.
- Wire up LLMs and agent frameworks to create task-specific assistants (contract summarizers, supplier risk analysis, policy advisor bots).
- Translate user workflows into technical requirements and automation designs with business stakeholders.
- Contribute to shared libraries, templates, and best practices for internal automations.
- Monitor, debug, and improve automations in production based on usage and feedback.
Required Qualifications
- 0–3 years of professional software engineering experience (internships, research, or significant personal projects count).
- Proficiency in at least one general-purpose language (Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar).
- Experience building scripts, APIs, small web apps, or workflow automations.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, webhooks, and basic data modeling using SQL or modern data stores.
- Hands-on experience using LLMs or automation platforms (OpenAI tools, LangChain, Zapier, n8n, or similar).
- Strong ownership mindset and willingness to work directly with non-technical users.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field — or equivalent experience.
- Experience with internal tools, low-code/no-code automation, or back-office systems (ERP, CRM, HRIS, ticketing, finance tools).
- Exposure to enterprise or security-conscious environments (defense, aerospace, healthcare, finance) where data protection and auditability matter.
- Portfolio of automations, bots, dashboards, or tools you’ve built.
- Interest in business operations and process improvement and a passion for shipping impactful code quickly.
Compensation & Benefits
- California pay range: $100,000—$160,000 USD.
