What You’ll Do

As a Software Engineer on the Account Authentication team you will design, build, and operate the systems that authenticate and authorize users across platforms at scale. You will sit at the intersection of security, user experience, and performance — delivering solutions that reduce account compromise while keeping friction minimal for legitimate users.

• Own the design, implementation, and launch of authentication and security features across platforms.
• Build adaptive, risk-based authentication flows and just-in-time friction tailored to user signals.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Growth, Discovery, and broader safety/security teams to shape product direction and roadmaps.
• Instrument experiments and analyze usage/A-B test data to inform product and security decisions.
• Deliver end-to-end across the stack — contributing to frontend and backend services and integrating AI/automation tools where appropriate.
• Write reliable, maintainable code and help maintain systems that scale to millions of users.

What We're Looking For

• 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience building user-facing applications or services with attention to reliability and UX.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: Rust, C#, JavaScript. Experience with C++ and Lua is a plus.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; experience working with Product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience with instrumentation, metrics, and A/B testing to measure impact and iterate.
• Strong commitment to designing systems that prioritize user safety, data integrity, and policy compliance.
• Ability to own features from design through production and iterate based on user data.

Compensation & Work Location

• Employment type: FULL_TIME
• Location: California, US (office/hybrid expectations apply for California-based roles)
• Work arrangement: Office-based roles typically follow an onsite schedule of Tuesday–Thursday with optional presence on Monday and Friday (when office-based).
• Pay range for California-based roles: $153,120—$196,750 USD (annual). The actual base pay offered will depend on experience, skills, location within California, and other job-related factors. This range is subject to change.
