What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a senior-level Software Engineer to join a mission-focused team supporting DoD and Intelligence Community customers. You will design, develop, test, deploy, and sustain enterprise software used in operational environments.
- Contribute across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): design, implementation, code review, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
- Develop backend services and microservices using Java (Spring Boot) and Python.
- Work with relational (Postgres) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases; participate in schema design and performance tuning.
- Build, package, and run containerized applications using Docker; support CI/CD pipelines and automated releases.
- Troubleshoot production issues, participate in on-call rotations as required, and support customer deployments.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation: architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, runbooks, and training materials.
- Collaborate with QA, systems engineers, DevOps, and product stakeholders to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions.
- Where applicable, leverage AI/LLM tools to assist development and participate in efforts to build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities.
What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)
To be considered, applicants must meet legal and security eligibility requirements and demonstrate the technical foundation for this role:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a senior software engineer on enterprise systems.
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot, plus Python scripting.
- Hands-on experience with Postgres and familiarity with MongoDB or other NoSQL stores.
- Experience working in Dockerized environments and familiarity with CI/CD tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams and produce high-quality technical artifacts.
Desired Skills (Nice-to-Have)
- DB optimization and performance tuning experience.
- Experience leveraging AI concepts or LLMs for development assistance or building RAG applications.
- Familiarity with frontend frameworks (Angular, React, or Vue) for integration work.
- Experience with orchestration tools and cloud-native patterns.
- Prior work supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programs preferred.
