What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer 2 (Mobile Development) to join their mobile engineering team based in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role you will build and maintain consumer-facing Android and/or iOS applications that integrate with cloud services and wireless devices.
- Design, implement, test, and maintain mobile features for Android and/or iOS using Kotlin, Java, Swift, or similar languages
- Build UI using modern frameworks (Jetpack Compose, SwiftUI, UIKit, Android SDK) and collaborate on architecture decisions
- Integrate mobile apps with RESTful APIs and cloud-connected services
- Work with wireless communication technologies (Bluetooth / BLE) and mobile device connectivity
- Use configuration management, build pipelines, emulators/simulators, debugging and profiling tools to deliver reliable software
- Participate in peer code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and follow engineering best practices
- Perform technical root-cause analysis and propose corrective actions
- Mentor less-experienced engineers and collaborate cross-functionally with product, QA, and hardware teams
- Contribute to technical research, prototype new solutions, and estimate effort for features
Qualifications (Basic Requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum ~1 year of relevant software development experience (industry experience or internships accepted)
- Demonstrated ability to develop mobile software in Kotlin, Java, Swift, or similar languages
- Experience building Android and/or iOS applications and using platform tooling (emulators, debuggers, profilers)
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
- Familiarity consuming REST-based APIs and working with cloud-connected services
- Strong problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to writing maintainable, testable code and participating in code reviews
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (e.g., cumulative GPA ≥ 3.5) or strong internship/project experience
- Prior experience designing consumer products or working on hardware-integrated apps
- Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose, SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern Android/iOS SDKs
- Experience with Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and other wireless comms
- Familiarity with Agile development processes and continuous integration/delivery pipelines
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical design
