What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Mainframe Cobol Software Engineer to help design, develop, test, operate, and maintain core mainframe products. You’ll work on production-ready code, participate in agile/DevOps practices, and contribute to system reliability and performance improvements.
- Take full-stack ownership of assigned features, producing production-ready, testable code
- Design and implement solutions that consider scalability, reliability and performance
- Analyze failures and propose design and operational improvements
- Participate in and conduct code reviews to maintain engineering best practices
- Ensure development artifacts and processes meet compliance and security requirements
- Collaborate with product owners, scrum masters, engineers, third-party vendors and customers
- Prioritize work for incremental delivery and communicate blockers early
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of relevant experience in mainframe development or closely related roles
- Proven ability to write, test and maintain production code
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Strong technical knowledge in COBOL, DB2, JCL and VSAM
- Understanding of the full feature lifecycle and user impact
- Familiar with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles
- Solid fundamentals in algorithms, data structures and architectural design patterns
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional product teams
Location & Work Model
This role is based in Denver, CO. The position requires working from a Confidential Client location three (3) or more days per week.

Compensation
Pay Range: $86,360 - $101,600 per year (range reflects the primary location). Actual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications and location.
