What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level, full-time Software Engineer role supporting a Confidential Client in Glen Burnie, MD. You will join an engineering team building, optimizing, and operating large-scale data and cloud systems. Typical responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain backend services and data-processing jobs using Java
• Design, implement and tune MapReduce / batch-processing workflows
• Work with cloud infrastructure and services to deploy, monitor, and scale applications
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, DevOps, Product) to deliver features and improvements
• Follow secure development practices and maintain compliance for cleared environments
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration pipelines

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong Java programming skills and experience developing backend systems
• Hands-on experience with MapReduce or similar large-scale data processing frameworks
• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) — deploying and operating services in a cloud environment
• Active security clearance required (must hold an active clearance or be eligible/able to obtain one)
• Good problem-solving skills and effective verbal/written communication

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with GhostMachine and QTA (or similar internal tooling) is a plus
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and performance tuning
• Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Experience writing unit and integration tests, and working in Agile teams

Location & Work Model

• On-site position based in Glen Burnie, MD at the Confidential Client’s facility. Candidates must be able to work on-site as required for cleared work.
