About the Role
Confidential Client is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join an agile engineering team serving consumer-facing products. This role focuses on designing, building, testing, and operating reliable, maintainable, and scalable software that serves a large listener/customer base.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, test, and maintain software components and applications for consumer-facing systems.
- Identify and resolve defects using code review, log analysis, metrics, debugging and other troubleshooting techniques.
- Write maintainable, well-tested, and scalable code as part of an agile delivery team.
- Collaborate with product and cross-functional stakeholders to define, design, and deliver customer-centric features.
- Apply computer science and engineering principles to solve moderate-scale technical problems.
- Improve testability, operational excellence (OE), and technical documentation for services you own.
- Classify and manage data in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in hiring interviews and provide mentorship to other engineers.
What We’re Looking For
- 1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language (for example: Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset.
- Familiarity with agile practices, source control, code reviews, and automated testing.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience building consumer-facing distributed systems.
- Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and operational practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms and service-oriented architectures.
- Prior mentorship or interview panel experience.
Compensation & Employment Details
- Location: Newark, NJ (onsite / local)
- Employment type: Full-time, Contract
- Base salary range: $121,600 — $180,600 USD annually (range provided by the client). Final compensation will be determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
