What You'll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join a scaled agile team building AI‑enabled, cloud‑native, enterprise applications. You will design, build, test, and deploy full‑stack solutions that prioritize security, resiliency, and performance. This role emphasizes an AI‑first mindset — you’ll have opportunities to integrate generative AI capabilities and modern automation into customer-facing systems and internal platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications (full‑stack) using modern languages and frameworks.
- Build and maintain enterprise‑grade services with a focus on security and performance.
- Integrate AI capabilities (e.g., GenAI APIs, ML models) into applications and workflows.
- Participate in design and code reviews; promote engineering best practices and DevSecOps principles.
- Collaborate with product owners, scrum leads, and cross‑functional teams to refine requirements and deliver features.
- Troubleshoot, monitor, and resolve production incidents and service requests.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 1 year of professional or internship/project experience in software application development.
- Experience with one or more of: Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Understanding of object‑oriented programming concepts.
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
Preferred Qualifications
- ~2 years of software development experience building modern applications.
- Experience with Git‑based workflows (GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure Repos).
- Familiarity with generative AI concepts, prompt engineering, and LLM APIs (for example, Azure OpenAI).
- Experience with responsive UI/UX development.
- Knowledge of Relational and NoSQL database design concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) and cloud‑native application patterns.
- Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines and tools (Azure DevOps, Selenium, JUnit/Mockito).
- Awareness of modern identity/access management and application security (AppSec) practices.
- Strong ability to learn quickly and apply new technologies; evidence of project work or academic achievement is a plus.
Location & Compensation
- Location: Cary, NC — hybrid role; minimum 3 days per week in the office.
- Employment type: Full‑time.
- Salary: $67,800 - $88,000 per year (expected range). This role may be eligible for annual short‑term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to plan terms.
