Program Details
This is a field-based, direct-entry management development program (typical duration: ~12 months) that prepares Site Manager in Training (MIT) candidates to become fully autonomous Site Managers. The program is hands-on and travel-intensive; MITs will be deployed to active manufacturing/service locations and will rotate across the client’s network under regional mentorship.
Work Location & Mobility Expectations
- This role is field-based and requires frequent travel and temporary assignments to multiple service locations across states.
- MITs should be prepared to spend multiple consecutive weeks on assignment and to relocate to an assigned permanent service location upon successful program completion if required by the client.
- Geographic flexibility and the ability to drive for company/customer business are required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Interview, onboard, coach and manage team members (direct, indirect, and contractors).
- Monitor team performance and implement improvement plans where needed.
- Run operating rhythms and leadership cadences (e.g., weekly Level 10 meetings).
- Enforce client policies, procedures and quality expectations at assigned locations.
- Apply quality management systems and tools (ISO, TS 16949, AIAG Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
- Conduct supplier and part audits; assess compliance with quality standards and material flow.
- Lead root cause analyses and corrective action plans for customer quality issues.
- Provide technical support and guidance to service location and customer teams.
- Identify process improvements and opportunities to reduce cost and improve reliability.
- Document audits, issues, contacts and supplier information in software systems.
- Maintain strong cross-functional relationships with engineering, quality, logistics, procurement and production teams.
- Identify potential business leads and support growth at assigned locations.
- Demonstrate independent decision-making and require minimal supervision.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following paths:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business (Operations/Supply Chain), or a related field; OR
- Skilled trades certification (CQT, CQE, or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of direct manufacturing or automotive quality experience; OR
- Quality or automotive professional (Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, Program Manager, or similar) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (formal degree not required).
Additional required attributes:
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Willingness to meet client and service-location requirements (e.g., health/safety training, vaccination status where applicable).
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (majority of the workday); frequent bending, stooping, kneeling or crouching.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs (in accordance with OSHA guidance).
- Manual dexterity for use of tools and measurement devices; keen eyesight for quality inspection.
- Comfortable working in varying temperatures and noise levels common in manufacturing environments.
- Flexibility to work additional hours or occasional mandatory overtime when required.
Compensation & Employment Type
- Employment type listed: Contract, Part-time.
- Pay (as listed by client): $65,000 per year.
- This role is a training/probationary position; continued placement and promotion depend on meeting training milestones and business needs.
