What You’ll Do

This contract role is focused on designing user-centered, accessible ServiceNow experiences (Service Portal, UI Builder / Now Experience, Workspaces, Virtual Agent). You will work with product owners, ServiceNow developers, and stakeholders to define and deliver intuitive enterprise interfaces that meet accessibility and platform standards.

• Design end-to-end experiences for ServiceNow modules, portals, Employee/Customer Workspaces and Virtual Agent touchpoints.
• Create wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs using Figma (or similar tools).
• Translate functional requirements into feasible UI designs and reusable UI components within ServiceNow constraints.
• Configure and design Service Portal widgets, UI Builder pages, and Now Experience components to preserve design fidelity.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and stakeholder interviews; iterate designs based on real user feedback.
• Build and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries aligned with the Now Design System and client branding.
• Ensure all designs meet Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and validate compliance through testing.
• Collaborate with developers during build and QA to ensure accurate implementation and resolve UI/UX issues.
• Produce UX documentation: personas, journey maps, information architecture, and design specifications.
• Present design concepts and rationale to technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership.
• Stay current with ServiceNow releases and recommend UI/UX improvements that leverage new capabilities.
• Support change management and training by producing clear visual documentation of new interfaces and workflows.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years professional UI/UX design experience, including enterprise software platforms.
• At least 4 years hands-on experience designing within or for the ServiceNow platform (Service Portal, UI Builder/Now Experience, Workspaces, or Virtual Agent).
• Proficiency with industry-standard design/prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch or equivalent).
• Strong user-centered design practice: user research, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript to collaborate effectively with ServiceNow developers and customize Service Portal widgets.
• Demonstrated experience designing for accessibility (Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA).
• Strong portfolio showcasing enterprise UX/UI work, with platform-specific examples where possible.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present and defend design decisions to mixed audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• ServiceNow certifications such as Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Application Developer (CAD).
• Experience working on public-sector or government IT projects.
• Familiarity with the Now Design System component library.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and tools like Jira or ServiceNow Agile Development.
• Prior experience delivering design work under procurement, security, or compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA, NIST).
