Role Summary
Confidential Client is seeking a mid-level Senior Software Engineer (4–7 years experience) for a long-term W2 contract. This is a remote role that works on Pacific Time (PST) hours. The focus is full-stack work on C#/.NET (ASP.NET Core) applications with strong attention to security remediation, dependency upgrades, and test-driven fixes.
What You’ll Do
- Remediate security findings across the stack: dependency upgrades (NuGet, npm), code-level fixes (authorization, XSS, path traversal, SQL injection, cryptography), credential rotation, and container/Kubernetes hardening.
- Write tests for every fix — unit tests and appropriate integration or functional verification to prove vulnerabilities are closed and features still behave correctly.
- Own version upgrades end-to-end — diagnose and resolve build or behavior changes from major version bumps.
- Document findings and remediation steps so the team avoids repeated efforts.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams, Security, QA, and DevOps to coordinate fixes and safe rollouts.
- Automate routine dependency updates and remediation tasks to prevent backlog accumulation.
- Raise technical judgment calls with reasoned recommendations when fixes or findings are incorrect for the architecture.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong C# and .NET skills; comfortable in ASP.NET Core web applications.
- Solid TypeScript experience and familiarity with a modern frontend framework (Angular preferred; React or Vue acceptable).
- Working SQL knowledge: writing queries, understanding parameterization, and using an ORM or data access layer.
- Habit of writing tests (unit tests required; integration or end-to-end testing desirable).
- Git fluency: branching, rebasing, clear commits, and useful pull requests.
- Comfort reading and working in unfamiliar codebases.
- Clear written and spoken English for daily collaboration.
- A genuine interest in application security and building skills in remediation and secure coding practices.
Nice-to-Haves
- Previous experience specifically remediating vulnerabilities (e.g., XSS, SQLi, auth issues).
- Experience coordinating secret/credential rotation across services.
- Familiarity with container security and Kubernetes hardening.
- Automation experience for dependency management (bots, CI tools, scheduled upgrades).
Compensation & Logistics
- Employment type: Contract (W2 only).
- Remote role with PST hours required.
- Base pay range: $60.00/hr - $65.00/hr.
- This range is provided by Confidential Client. Final pay will be based on skills and experience.
Why Join
- Work on meaningful, security-focused engineering work that improves overall platform robustness.
- Collaborate across teams and have visible impact through automation and durable documentation.
- Access additional matched roles via the Careertakes platform as a candidate.
