Senior Software Engineer | Remote
This contract role involves reviewing programming tasks and evaluation harnesses to assess their accuracy, difficulty, and effectiveness in measuring software engineering skills. The Senior Software Engineer will analyze complex code structures, verify logic and test cases, and clearly communicate their technical thought process to support AI agent evaluation.

What You’ll Do
- Design, build, test, and maintain reliable, scalable software systems in a fast-paced environment.
- Deliver high-quality production code and collaborate on architecture and design decisions.
- Own features end-to-end: requirement clarification, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Participate in code reviews, mentor peers, and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Work cross-functionally with product, design, QA, and operations to deliver business value.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents; continuously improve system reliability and performance.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a software engineer with a track record of delivering production software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly.
- Experience with testing (unit/integration), CI/CD, and source control workflows.
- Comfortable working remotely and independently while engaging with distributed teams.
- Ability to work on a contractor basis and fully comply with U.S. work-authorization requirements.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience mentoring other engineers and influencing technical direction.
- Background contributing to design discussions and implementing scalable solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud-hosted services, microservices patterns, and observability practices.
Compensation & Logistics
- Rate: $65.00/hr (base pay range provided by the client).
- Employment type: Contractor (hourly).
- Location: Remote — applicants should be authorized to work in the United States.
- Schedule: Flexible / remote; details will be confirmed during screening with Careertakes and the client.
