What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead design and delivery of significant software features that advance home electrification and clean energy adoption. You will:
- Lead design, development, and deployment of complex backend and frontend features.
- Write, review, and maintain high-quality code (Python backend and TypeScript frontend).
- Architect scalable services on AWS and make tradeoffs that balance performance, cost, and maintainability.
- Design and optimize relational and NoSQL data models for reliability and performance.
- Build and maintain automated test suites (unit, integration, and end-to-end) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Create monitoring dashboards and alerts to maintain system health and performance.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices (code review, testing, observability).
- Collaborate with product and business partners to define requirements, scope, and deliverables.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues and drive long-term technical improvements.
Qualifications
Required (must meet one of the education + experience combinations):
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field AND 5 years of progressive software development experience, OR
- Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field AND 3 years of progressive software development experience.
Technical requirements:
- Strong production experience with Python (3.10+).
- Experience creating automated tests: unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Frontend development using TypeScript and a reactive JavaScript framework (e.g., React, Vue, Svelte).
- Proven experience architecting and deploying highly scalable applications on AWS.
- Experience designing and optimizing relational and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence for project tracking and documentation.
- Experience building monitoring dashboards and alerting for production systems.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in energy, electrification, IoT, or sustainability-focused products.
- Background in distributed systems, event-driven architecture, or observability tooling.
- Experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), or infra-as-code.
Location & Schedule
- Work location: Boston, MA (onsite / hybrid). Eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week.
- This role requires the ability to work in the United States and comply with applicable state employment requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range (U.S. based candidates): $186,160 – $190,000 per year.
- Additional short-term incentive compensation may apply.
