What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend systems that support high-volume business operations. You'll work on cloud-native services, collaborate with product and technical leads, and drive production-quality features from design through release.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Lead technical discussions and translate product requirements into reliable solutions.
• Develop unit and integration tests and follow coding and quality standards to meet coverage goals.
• Support the full software delivery lifecycle: CI/CD, deployments, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.
• Produce and maintain technical designs, API/service specifications, and developer-facing documentation.
• Work with messaging platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka) for event-driven architectures and ensure resilient message processing.

Minimum Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Advanced proficiency with Java and Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA).
• Proven track record building and supporting backend services in cloud environments.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and collaborating across engineering and product functions.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong Java (JVM) development skills and modern Spring framework experience.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent enterprise messaging/queueing systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and Kubernetes-based deployments.
• Experience with observability, logging, and monitoring tools to support production systems.
• Comfortable writing automated tests and following code review best practices.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or other major cloud providers.
• Experience designing distributed, high-volume, or large-scale systems.
• Familiarity with cloud-based analytics solutions and streaming data architectures.
• Ability to mentor other engineers and contribute to technical design standards.

Work Model & Location

This role is hybrid and will be based on business needs in Sunnyvale, CA. Candidates must be able to work on-site as required by the Confidential Client’s policies.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $120,000 – $135,000 per year (W-2) + benefits.
• Benefits package details are provided by the Confidential Client and may include medical, retirement, paid time off, and other standard offerings.
