What You'll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an experienced Senior Java Software Engineer to join a contract, on-site engineering team in New York, NY. You will design, build, test, and operate resilient backend services and help maintain high-quality delivery across a microservices architecture.

• Build and maintain production-grade Java microservices using modern design patterns.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers working with JavaScript (React) to integrate APIs and deliver features.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests (JUnit) and participate in performance and endurance testing.
• Use mock frameworks (e.g., Mockito, PowerMock) to enable robust automated testing.
• Instrument and monitor services with Grafana, Kibana, Splunk, or equivalent monitoring stacks.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and automation using Maven/Gradle, Git, and Jenkins.
• Containerize and deploy services using Docker and Kubernetes on cloud platforms.
• Design and optimize data access with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical interviews (including coding/problem-solving screening).

What We're Looking For (Required)

• Strong Java development skills and experience in production microservices.
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript (React) integration patterns.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Practical experience with testing (JUnit, integration, performance/endurance).
• Familiarity with mock tools (Mockito, PowerMock) and monitoring tools (Grafana, Kibana, Splunk).
• Experience with CI/CD toolchains (Maven, Gradle, Git, Jenkins).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud deployment patterns.
• Strong problem-solving and coding skills (comfortable with coding challenge-style questions).
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice-to-Have (Preferred)

• Prior experience in Banking and Financial Services or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with observability best practices and log aggregation (ELK/ELF stacks).
• Experience designing for high throughput and low latency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
