Position overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Senior Healthcare Data Analyst for the Analytics Hub to support client-facing engagements and internal analytics initiatives. This role focuses on transforming large healthcare datasets into clear, actionable insights used for strategic planning, operational improvement, provider alignment, and value-based care initiatives. The team uses Microsoft Azure/Microsoft 365 with Power BI as the primary visualization tool and Microsoft SQL Server/Fabric for relational data.
What You’ll Do
- Gather, clean, and synthesize data from national surveys, proprietary research, client systems, claims, and EHR sources
- Prepare analyses using hospital inpatient databases and provider claims data
- Build flexible, dynamic financial and operational models to forecast trends and evaluate scenarios for strategic and operational recommendations
- Develop and enhance analytics pipelines primarily using SQL; use Python or R when appropriate
- Design, configure, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and data interfaces (Power BI <> SQL <> other cloud apps)
- Create and maintain analytical documentation, operating procedures, and reproducible workflows
- Partner with consulting teams across strategy, payer contracting, health system performance, and medical group optimization to gather requirements and deliver insights
- Support business development with market analyses, presentations, and pursuit materials
- Research, test, and recommend new analytic methods, tools, and automation opportunities
- Contribute to internal training and educational initiatives to raise analytics capability firmwide
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, statistics, health information management, or a related quantitative field
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare data analytics (clinical, operational, financial, or population health data)
- Strong SQL skills and experience building relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server/Fabric)
- Advanced experience with data visualization tools — Power BI required; Tableau experience helpful
- Familiarity with healthcare datasets (claims, EHRs, quality metrics, outcomes, value-based programs)
- Experience with Azure, Databricks, Python, or R is a plus
- Strong proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for analysis and presentations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex analyses into business recommendations
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail; comfortable working across multiple projects
Location & Schedule
- Location: Chicago, IL (preferred). Other potential locations include Washington, DC and Boston. This posting is for the Chicago, IL opportunity.
- Schedule: Full-time, exempt
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated base salary range: $100,000–$130,000 per year (good-faith estimate). Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and other factors.
- Eligible for annual incentive compensation and participation in benefit plans (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) matching, unlimited PTO, and wellness programs.
- Confidential Client participates in E-Verify as part of onboarding. Having the permanent legal right to work in the U.S. is a condition of employment. Confidential Client is not currently able to provide visa sponsorship.
