What You’ll Do
- Work as a key member of an Agile/Scrum team to design, implement, test, and maintain embedded software for mission-critical encryption and communications products.
- Translate system and product requirements into maintainable embedded software solutions for both simulated and target hardware.
- Act as a subject-matter expert in embedded application development, providing technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
- Integrate software with hardware, participate in hardware-software integration tests, and validate operational performance against requirements.
- Develop software test plans, test procedures, and technical documentation to support verification and certification activities.
- Investigate root causes of complex issues, implement fixes, and follow through with regression verification.
- Use C/C++ and Python to implement software for real-time embedded operating systems and automate development/test tasks as needed.
- Participate in design and code peer reviews, track defects, and contribute to continuous improvement of the SDLC.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience developing software for embedded and real-time systems on simulated and target hardware.
- Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, or similar.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and experience using Python for tooling or automation.
- Solid troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Additional Skills
- Object-oriented design experience and familiarity with software modeling / UML tools (e.g., IBM Rhapsody, MagicDraw/Cameo).
- Experience developing device drivers and board support packages (BSPs) for real-time embedded systems.
- Familiarity with modern C++ techniques and best practices.
- Experience with information assurance, cryptography, or working on certified/assured systems (e.g., NSA Type 1, DO-178).
- Prior work on defense, tactical networking, or encryption products is strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $105,000 - $171,000 per year (in compliance with pay-transparency rules). Final offer will depend on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
- Minimum sign-on bonus: $10,000 for qualified candidates (additional credentials may increase the amount).
- Relocation packages available for qualified candidates.

Schedule & Clearance
- Schedule: 9/80 regular schedule with every other Friday off.
- Clearance: U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance are required. Some positions may require the ability to obtain/maintain higher clearances.
